Mentors making a difference in the lives and academics of foster kids

Christi and Judy share a laugh while looking over the photographs they posed for in the booth.The Knoxville News Sentinel recently spotlighted the Governor’s Mentoring Initiative, a program that matches adults with foster care children across the state and operated by Youth Villages.

According to a recent YV survey, foster care children with mentors reported having better grades at school, getting in fewer fights, using drugs or alcohol less often and having fewer troubles with law enforcement.
