Youth Villages, the McDonald’s Foundation and organizers from KaBOOM! recently hosted a design day for children at the Youth Villages Bartlett Campus.

Children from Youth Villages put crayon to paper and drew their dream playgrounds, which will ultimately become a reality. Elements from the children’s drawings will be incorporated into the final design for the new community playground to be built on Dec. 7 at the Bartlett Campus.

The playground planning committee will work for the next seven weeks to plan and prepare for the construction of the new playground.

The facility’s current playground is more than 10 years old and in need of replacement. The new playground will provide more than 300 children in Memphis with a safe place to play.

The playground is one of 12 playgrounds scheduled to be built by mid-2013 as part of a new partnership between McDonald’s Foundation and KaBOOM!. These projects will assist KaBOOM! in achieving its vision of a great place to play within walking distance of every child in America.
