Eighty golfers from across Oregon and Washington competed in the 10th Annual YV Oregon Cup Pro Am golf tournament, held Monday, Sept. 9 at Columbia Edgewater Country Club in Portland, but the real winners are the children and families being helped by Youth Villages Oregon.

The YV Oregon Cup is the only Pro Am golf tournament sponsored by the Oregon PGA benefitting a nonprofit organization. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit Youth Villages Oregon, which helps emotionally and behaviorally troubled children and their families live successfully by providing residential treatment and intensive in-home services.

“This year’s YV Oregon Cup was a huge success. We had a great turnout, and we’re very thankful for the many golfers, golf clubs, companies and foundations that have supported Youth Villages Oregon over the past ten years,” Lynne Saxton, executive director of Youth Villages Oregon, said. “Their support allows us to continue to help some of Oregon’s most vulnerable children and families live successfully.”

Golf clubs across Oregon and Washington have also joined the effort to raise fund for Youth Villages Oregon by holding local raffles. So far this year, 15 golf clubs have held raffles and raised more than $8,580, with the goal expected to exceed $15,000. Since 2003, the local tournament raffles have raised more than $121,000 for Youth Villages Oregon.

Sponsors of the 2013 YV Oregon Cup include the Oregon PGA, BMW, Columbia Bank, Leupold & Stevens, Nike, OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital and Walsh Construction. Individual sponsors include Nick Ehlen of Melvin Mark Brokerage Company, Byron and Cynthia Grant of Golf ScoreCards, Inc. and WRG Foundation, Steven Elorriaga of Oregon Metal Slitters, Dan Harmon of Hoffman Construction and Scott Ehlen.
